I agree. Including price complicates things, but we might be able to figure something out in our next article for IDS 2019. 🙂

Hi. There doesn’t seem to be any information on the Lythos scanner beyond some promotional material since 2015. Are they still in the market?

Thanks. This has been a dead horse, but you are absolutely correct in that markets vary widely across locations. Not only that, different government policies on public health and dental subsidies also complicates the issue quite a bit. However, I will add my own observation from the past year or two: some IOS have improved drastically through software updates, even though the hardware remained the same. So I think while nobody likes to held hostage with subscriptions and upgrade costs, they do seem to help quite noticeably. Some more than others, though.

Thanks. I have not heard of Launca until I saw your comment. It appears to be a new scanner from China and, based on my 10 minutes of googling, the demo videos seem to show that it is functional but not much else. Though I think I will reserve my judgement until IDS next year, where hopefully we can be given a crack at it.

The information allows one to step into a potentially complex space with an immediate sense of direction. You may consider including comments on future cost of ownership with regards to updates and upgrades, although this may vary in different territories. In our market, these can be big differentiators between the top makes.

Thanks for your comment! It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all these new stuff so I suggest doing a lot of research and, more importantly, hands-on impressions before you purchase.

When we last went to IDS the Medit I500 wasn’t available for us to try. Our research seems to indicate that its primary marketing strategy is to mimic 3Shape Trios very closely while at a fraction of the price. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but we can’t say for sure until we actually try it at the next IDS in 2019.

Hello. I’m new this and honestly technology is more difficult than the most impacted wisdom tooth but I know where this field is heading and don’t want to be caught behind the curve.
Have you heard of the i medit?
How does it compare to these in all aspects?
Thanks
